Ephesians 6: 13-17 “Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”
Living according to God’s word is harder than anything I have ever done. But God never said it would be easy. He even said we were not capable of living His way without His grace and power.
God’s thoughts are not like ours, and His principles generally require us to act in the exact opposite way that the world has taught us. Not only are God’s ways often contrary to our natural emotions and reactions, they require us to look downright foolish to the rest of the world, while personally giving up any illusion of control.
To a world which extols self-reliance, ambition and achievement, God’s instructions on how to deal with life’s issues seem like weak and impotent commands that couldn’t possibly work.
But look around you – the world’s ways are not working. The world is in so much trouble because we have strayed so far from the Truth …well, I’ll let you read on.
This is not for the faint of heart. Calling all warriors!
